Description
The author, Steven Shields, is a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (RLDS, headquartered in Missouri) who used to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS, headquartered in Utah).
When Joseph Smith Jr. died, his followers could not agree among themselves who ought to succeed him, so many “Mormon” denominations were founded (there are now somewhere between 200 and 1000 different “Mormon” denominations). The RLDS believed that Joseph Smith III should succeed his father, the LDS followed Brigham Young.
