The Church Through the Years: With this second in a two-volume set of essays, Richard P. Howard ex¬plores the stories behind the story of the Latter Day Saint movement, beginning with the formation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a past president of both the Mormon History Association (1990-1991) and the John Whitmer His¬torical Association (1985-1986), he has been a leading figure in the “New Mormon History” movement. His Herald House book, Restoration Scriptures: A Study of Their Textual Development, was honored in 1970 by the MHA as “Book of the Year.” He has served as RLDS Church historian since 1966. A Graceland graduate, Dick Howard received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and then served in the U.S. Army CIC. He later earned a master’s degree in history at the University of California-Berkeley and has since taken further graduate studies at the University of Kansas, American University in Washington, D.C., and Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. Dick and his wife, Barbara, have four grown children and three grandchildren.
