THE POPULAR ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BIBLE PROPHECY
DECEPTION
THE SIGNIFICANCE FOR ESCHATOLOGY
Deceit is one of the sins of Unbelievers ( Mark 7:21-23; Romans 1:29). According to John, any one who continued in sin fails the moral test for authentic faith ( 1 John 3:3- 6 ). True believers can not consistently engaged in deceit. Thus, believers are urged to purify themselves in preparation for the return of Christ. ( 1 John 3:2 – 3 ). Jesus and the new Testament writers predicted that in the current age, false teachers would attempt to mislead believers by deceptive teaching. And Apparently as the present age approaches its end and the beginning of the Tribulation draws nears, False teachers will proliferate, and their efforts to mislead uninformed believers and gullible believers will intensify ( 2 Timothy 3:13 ). The Antichrist ( The Beast Out of the Sea ) and the False Prophet ( The Beast Out of the Earth ) will work together to deceive people to worship Satan ( The Dragon ) during the Tribulation ( Revelation 13:1-18 ). But beware: ( Satan who is the Arch Deceiver ) The Beast, and the False Prophet, are destined for the Lake of Fire ( Revelation 20:10 ).
THE SERIOUSNESS OF DECEIT
Deceit, the deliberate misleading of another person, can serve good or evil purposes. When it is used for evil, it is a deadly sin. Eve disobey God because Satan Deceive her, and all creation became Captive to sin. Both the Old and New testament condemn ethical and theological deceit, warning of God’s Judgment on all who are deceitful. —– W.H. MARTY
