BOWL JUDGEMENTS Part I

THREE SEQUENCES OF JUDGEMENT will fall on the earth during the Tribulation. The breaking of the Seven seals begins the Tribulation ( Revelation 5:1-5). With the breaking of the seventh seal ( 8:1-2 ) comes the sounding of the Seven Trumpets ( 8:2 – 9:21; 11:15- 19). When the Seventh Angel sound the final Trumpet ( 15:8 – 16:1 ), the first bowl “of the wrath of God” is poured upon the earth. God’s angels are the agents who brings about these judgments into the world.

THE INTENSITY OF THE SEVEN BOWLS

What is in the bowls? Though the Bible does not say, the descriptions of the terror that falls on the earth would indicate scalding water or liquid of some kind. The bowl judgments are the most intense of the sequences of Judgement that fall on the world. “The difference between the trumpets and the bowls has to do with the more universal extent extent of the latter. And they come in rapid succession. As soon as God commands them to go, they move with swift abandonment. Each angel “pours out” his bowl ( cup or goblet) upon its destined target” ( Hindson, P.168 ).
